2007 proved to be a banner year in the world of Shell Motorsports. With a Constructors World Championship in Formula One, an American Le Mans series championship with Audi, and a MotoGP World Championship with Ducati, it seemed as if anything with wheels on it couldn’t lose, as long as it was powered by Shell.
Formula One
Scuderia Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen secured his first ever Formula One Drivers’ World Championship title by just one point when he won the dramatic Brazilian Grand Prix on October 21. The victory saw Räikkönen finish the season on 110 points, just ahead of McLaren-Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, tied with 109 points, and Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa in fourth. Coupled with Ferrari’s 2007 Formula One Constructors’ World Championship, Shell has now powered Scuderia Ferrari to 12 drivers’ and nine constructors’ titles.

American Le Mans
The Audi R10 TDI fueled by Shell V-Power Diesel has completed a historic year by winning the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). Powered by racing fuel with GTL (Gas to Liquids) technology, the R10 TDIs have proved that Shell V-Power Diesel race fuel has been carefully blended to help deliver the balance of power, endurance, efficiency and clean emissions that Audi needed to compete. The latest result at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., completed a phenomenal series of victories, including the world’s first diesel-powered car to win twice at the world’s toughest motor race, the Le Mans 24 Hours in France.
"Never before has a diesel been capable of wining races, let alone championships," said Shell’s Formula One Technical Manager Mike Copson. "The latest results just cap a racing season that will go down in history as the year diesel changed the world of motorsports forever."
The 2008 American Le Mans Series will kick off with the 2008 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday, March 15, 2008, from historic Sebring International Raceway. For more information, please visit www.shell.com/motorsports.

Teammate Loris Capirossi finished his final race for the Ducati team in fifth place after a spirited ride from eighth on the grid.
The race concluded a remarkable season for Stoner, who scored 10 victories and collected a total of 367 points, equaling the all-time points record and putting him 125 points ahead of series runner-up Dani Pedrosa.
