Fueled by a unique racing blend of Shell V-Power*, Ducati Team rider Casey Stoner finished sixth at the Motegi race in Japan on September 23rd and secured Ducati's first MotoGP World Championship. The result triggered scenes of unbridled joy in the Ducati Team pit and with fans across the world.
The race started on a slightly damp track, with most riders choosing rain tires. The circuit then dried out enough for riders to swap to slick-equipped bikes. Stoner became the second youngest premier-class World Champion, after American legend Freddie Spencer. So far this year Stoner has won eight race and scored five pole positions.
Shell shares a technical relationship with Ducati Corse that is unique in the MotoGP and World Superbike paddocks. Working closely with the Ducati engineers in Bologna, Shell produces tailored lubricants and Shell V-Power fuel to suit the exact needs of the Italian Desmodronic engines. The knowledge gained from competing in the harshest motorsport environments is then used in the production of Shell products, which in turn, power and protect every motorcycle that leaves the Ducati factory.
