The Shell V-Power® team recently sat down with Automotive Rhythms’ Kimatni Rawlins for a one-on-one chat. As the founder, president and publisher of the urban automotive media and marketing company, Kimatni travels the world assessing new vehicles and automotive technology for millions of readers. He has covered hundreds of automotive product introductions and test driven more than a thousand new cars, trucks and SUVs. Below is what Kimatni had to say on life, careers and cars!

How would you describe your role with Automotive Rhythms? How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been in the automotive industry for ten years now. My responsibilities as publisher and president of an urban auto media company are very exciting. There are many responsibilities that must be continuously coordinated simultaneously. But at the end of the day, I’m happy because my job allows me to educate consumers.

What advice would you give somebody looking to get involved in the automotive industry?
This industry is so unique. Determine your business objective first, then study your subject intensively. From journalism to marketing positions, there are an array of fields to work in. But networking is key! As skilled as you may be, it never hurts to know key people in key positions in the industry.

What aspects of the industry do you find most appealing?
Journalism, of course! I get to test drive almost every vehicle that’s produced. It’s amazing. Due to this, our auto stories and reviews are picked up by more than 15 other magazines and Web sites including Vibe and Celebrity Car.

What styles do you see hitting the auto scene in 2007?
In addition to muscle cars, innovative coupes, and convertibles, there will be a lot of “green” vehicles popping up in 2007.

Automotive Rhythms is always involved with the Washington Auto Show. How was this year’s show?
The 2007 Washington Auto Show was awesome. We hosted Automotive Rhythms’ Urban Restyln’ Salon, which had custom cars and bikes, fashion and entertainment. We even customized a vehicle for the mayor of Washington, D.C. How sweet is that?
