Paul Ireson’s custom Mini Truck took center stage at Hot Import Nights in Los Angeles on August 19th, impressing tuners and judges alike. In addition to beating over 500 of the nation’s most innovatively-tuned exotic imports in the “Best of Show” category, Ireson also took home “Hottest European,” “Best Interior,” “Best Engineering,” and “Best Bodywork” awards.
“Who knew such a small car could be such a huge hit,” Ireson said. “It’s really rewarding to see the Hot Import Nights crowd support my work and my association with Shell V-Power. Shell appreciates the value of quality car maintenance both on the exterior and under-the-hood and I think this truck represents that philosophy.”
Shell recently teamed up with Ireson to complete the customized Mini Truck, documenting the process from start to finish in a comprehensive videocast featured on the Shell V-Power Web site

With the exception of the frame, Ireson modified and customized every element of the Mini Truck, including the addition of two identical 500 horsepower Honda V-Tec engines – one in the regular engine compartment and one in the bed of the truck. The truck features a custom hand made body kit, including ported brake cooling air intakes, and a cantilever suspension system similar to what Formula One race cars use. A remote hydraulic gull wing driver door finishes off the body, complete with 15’ LCD televisions mounted on the door and on the tailgate.
