Allan McNish (Scotland) and Dindo Capello (Italy) clinched the LM-P1 title in the American Le Mans Series with a victory at Mosport, Canada. Powered by Shell V-Power Diesel, the Audi R10 TDI captured its fifth outright race victory of the season, and has since captured an additional win at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Still undefeated, the Audi R10's next stop will be Laguna Seca for the final race of the season on October 21.
At Mosport, Capello started next to Butch Leitzinger of Dyson Lolas on the first row and maintained an exciting duel as the two prototypes were separated by only a few seconds throughout the race. Capello handed over his leading Audi R10 TDI to co-driver Allan McNish in the 73rd minute and, after various lead changes, McNish won the race with a gap of 2.79 seconds ahead of the two Dyson Lolas (Chris Dyson/Guy Smith and James Weaver/Butch Leitzinger). Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro started the second Audi R10 TDI from the third row of the grid and finished the race in fourth place.
Having celebrated victories at Sebring and Le Mans, the Audi R10 TDI has remained unbeaten. To date, the Audi R10 is the first diesel-powered sports car to win an important championship, changing the world of motor racing forever.
The advanced Shell diesel fuel used in the Audi R10 TDI was designed to continuously clean modern precision fuel injection systems and to help the vehicle perform at its best. A key ingredient of the racing fuel is synthetic Gasoline to Liquids (GTL) Fuel, which is synthesized from natural gasoline to have a clean and efficient combustion. It is carefully blended to deliver the balance of power, efficiency, and clean emissions that Audi needs to compete in a tough environment of endurance racing.
Shell V-Power Diesel is currently available in many European countries.
