The world of motor racing will never be the same as the Audi R10 TDI, powered by Shell V-Power Diesel, has become the first diesel sportscar to ever win a world-class endurance race with historic wins at both the American Le Mans Series 12 Hours of Sebring and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
At Sebring, as the Audi R10 TDI completed one successful lap after another, many of the race attendees couldn't believe their ears, eyes, or noses. The car was able to dispel diesel preconceptions as it made its way around the track at a whisper in comparison to other entries and didn't emit the tell-tale black smoke or smell associated with diesel of old. The Audi R10 TDI provided a real life example that today's advanced diesel technology is clean, fuel efficient, durable and viable as an alternative fueling method.
The same unparalleled success was had at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the Audi R10 TDI completed 380 laps to secure an unforgettable maiden victory. With the help of Shell V-Power Diesel technology continuously cleaning the fuel injection system, the winning Audi R10 TDI was able to sustain great performance right through to the end of the race, and after 27 pit stops over 24 hours, the winning car claimed its victory.
This advanced diesel race fuel was designed to continuously clean modern precision fuel injection systems and to help the Audi R10 TDI perform at its best. A key ingredient at the heart of the racing fuel is synthetic Gasoline to Liquids (GTL) Fuel, which is synthesized from natural gasoline to have outstandingly clean and efficient combustion. It was carefully blended to deliver the balance of power, efficiency and clean emissions that Audi needs to compete in the tough environment of endurance racing.
Shell V-Power Diesel is currently only available in many European countries.
