From May 4-7, the second annual MarqueMadness car festival was held in conjunction with the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This year's MarqueMadness provided events in virtually all areas of interest for automotive enthusiasts, including festival-style marque corrals, rallies, car shows, special events and on-track experiences, making every car owner a participant rather than just a spectator.
Led by motorsports enthusiasts and marque club members Terry Geiser and Jim McCord, MarqueMadness gathered clubs from all over the western U.S. for a one-of-a-kind event, with attendees including Porsche, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lotus and many more. Attendees not only witnessed world class Daytona prototypes and sports sedans fight it out on the track, but were also given the opportunity to attend leadership forums throughout the weekend. During these forums, current and future leaders of marque clubs gathered for a professionally led symposium to share ideas, successes and trends for the health and welfare of their clubs.
Shell fuel specialist Mark Ferner was on hand to discuss Shell V-Power and the significant advances in fuel technology, as well as Shell V-Power's leading edge in performance fuels. In addition, John Leon, alternative fuels manager with Shell, was also on site to share details on the involvement of Shell V-Power Diesel in the recent Audi R10 TDI victory.
